Recently, Japanese tatami mats are popularly made from washi paper instead of traditional rush grass because of their superior durability. These mats are also crafted from washi with a special resin coating for enhanced resilience. The tatami used is the same as that found in traditional Japanese houses, purchased from a specialist tatami store. They are water-resistant and less prone to staining and fading.
The border of this tatami mat is not made from kinran (brocade), but instead uses authentic tatami edging typically found on real tatami mats. The material is polyester. The fabric has a moderate thickness and is quite sturdy.
You can use it as a table centerpiece, a base stand for various items, a stand for dolls, or as a display for your ornaments
