𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧

This sash (obi) originally used for wearing kimono has been repurposed into table runners. We offer both long and short variations. By threading it through a separately sold rod, you can also use it as a wall hanging at your preferred length. If you'd like a tube sewn for the rod, we can hand-sew it upon request. Please select your preferred style from the pull-down menu.

The material is silk, with a soft texture and excellent quality. The fabric is thin to medium thickness, with minimal surface texture, making it compact and easy to fold without adding bulk.

This obi, featuring a black base with vivid colors like red and gold in bold, large patterns, is a classic example of traditional designs from the past. The combination of black, gold, red, and green can sometimes appear gaudy, but Japanese obi artisans showcase their incredible skill by crafting these colors into an elegant and refined design.

The background features a ichimatsu (checkered) pattern with chrysanthemums woven into it. The ichimatsu pattern, which continues seamlessly without interruption, symbolizes "eternity" and "prosperity," making it an auspicious design often associated with wishes for family lineage prosperity or business success.

Chrysanthemums have long been a beloved motif in Japan. They are not only a staple in kimono designs but are also frequently seen in furniture, tableware, and traditional Japanese sweets. Known as the emblem of the Japanese Imperial Family, chrysanthemums hold a special place in Japanese culture. They are also commonly used as Buddhist flowers and are a familiar sight in florists year-round. This hardy flower thrives even in Japan's hot and humid climate. In recent years, chrysanthemums have been cultivated in a wider variety of colors and shapes.

By draping the obi at your desired length over the black bamboo option, you can also use it as a wall hanging.

We USE RE-USED KIMONOS and OBIS

All the kimonos I handle are pre-owned. While the condition of items on the market varies, I carefully select only from stores where I personally inspect and touch each piece to ensure they are in good condition, with beautiful patterns and colors, and made of quality fabric.

After purchase, I sometimes discover minor stains, spots or scratches, but if the item is still perfectly wearable, these details are clearly noted in the description. Stains and spots may be due to age or wear, which is also documented. Please feel free to message me with any questions, or if you have specific requests for what you're looking for.

・Dry cleaning recommended

・Ironing it on a medium-high setting. Garments may also be steamed in a moderate setting.

・Cover the tapestry with a cloth when ironing.
