This juban (under-kimono) is exceptionally beautiful in both color and pattern. A juban is an undergarment worn between a kimono and kimono underclothing, serving to protect the kimono from dirt.

Although it is difficult to see from a distance, if you look at the close-up photos, you can see that the area around the cranes has a woven pattern of tiny gold squares. This adds a very ornate touch. The red color is a vermilion-like, orange-tinged red, similar to the colors used for the torii gates at Japanese Shinto shrines. This is a traditional Japanese color. The dynamic way in which the cranes gracefully spread their wings is also impressive.

The material is silk. The surface of the fabric has a slightly rough texture. The red fabric around the neck has been replaced with new material, so it is clean. I believe this juban is about 70-80 years old.

Considering it is an old juban, the condition is very good, but please refer to the photos regarding its condition. Due to its age, there are some yellow stains on the white parts of the cranes. Even considering the stains, the pattern and quality are both very good, and I highly recommend this piece.

・Dry clean is recommended.

・If the kimono gets stained, please gently pat the affected area with a towel wrung out in hot water.

・Ironing it on a medium-high setting. Garments may also be steamed in a moderate setting.

・Cover the table runner with a cloth when ironing.
