A B O U T
I made a small pouch using Japanese kimono fabric. It is single layer (no lining).
The orange one is a silk shibori fabric from a kimono. The other three are antique kimono fabrics, probably nearly a hundred years old. They are made of thin, delicate silk.
It's perfect for storing small items such as cosmetics, a hand mirror, or even as a coin purse. The pattern is a karakusa design, which originally came from China. The combination of black and emerald green, with the subtle kasuri-style red accents, gives it a modern, contemporary look.
C A R E
When it gets dirty, simply rinse it with water and iron it. You can use shampoo, soap, laundry detergent—anything works. Iron it when it is about 90% dry to remove wrinkles nicely. Please note that there may be some color fading, so do not soak it in water. Avoid using hot water as it may cause shrinkage.
