This is a nearly or over 100-year-old antique kimono, from pre-war. ย As a characteristic of old kimonos, the fabric is thin and delicate.ใThis is also a characteristic of older kimonos, as they are generally made smaller. Both the length and sleeve length are shorter.
The inner red fabric is also a characteristic feature of pre-war kimonos. It is made from high-quality silk, vibrant in color and smooth to the touch. The kimono fabric is a type of silk textile called Saya, featuring a Sayagata pattern (a continuous motif of diagonal interlinked swastika shapes derived from Sanskrit). This luxurious silk with a glossy finish was widely used from the late medieval period (circa 1500s) to the early Edo period (early 1600s).ใThere is also some minor staining on the hem (see photos).
However, for a kimono from this era, it is in exceptionally good condition.

ใปIf the kimono gets stained, please gently pat the affected area with a towel wrung out in hot water.
ใปIroning it on a medium-high setting. Garments may also be steamed in a moderate setting.
ใปCover the table runner with a cloth when ironing.
