A B O U T

This is a set of Japanese postcard-sized message cards, comprising 12 cards in total with 3 colors x 4 pieces each. The envelopes are crafted from Japanese washi paper, folded into shape, with patterns varying based on current stock.

A distinctive feature of these postcards is the red painting design created by a ceramist living in Japan. While such red painting typically adorns porcelain and ceramics, these designs have been specially created for this series.

My mother has been studying pottery with this ceramist for twenty years, and through this connection, we were able to have the red painting specially created for this occasion.

The importance of the red painting lies in its coloration, offering a distinctly Japanese shade of red and beautiful contrasts with soft greens and yellows. Please take a moment to appreciate the butterfly and cherry blossom designs, specialties of Mr. Nagashima!
