This is called a juban, an undergarment worn beneath a kimono to protect it from direct contact with the skin. There are some tiny black spots from ages inside.

This is an antique juban (kimono undergarment). As people in the past were smaller than modern Japanese, it has a petite make.

This juban is approximately 100 years old and made of delicate, thin Silk, typical of older materials. The condition is good considering it's a pre-WWII garment.

While there is a tear and hole in the collar area, this can be removed as the collar is designed to be detachable for easy cleaning, specifically the small section from the neck to below the ear. Removing that piece will eliminate the damaged area.

The deep navy color is a traditional Japanese hue and is beautifully complemented by the purple background, red-toned flowers and clouds, and pale green maple leaves, creating a striking, yet modern design. Though a juban is worn beneath a kimono, it was considered stylish to have fashionable innerwear like this. It’s thought that a wealthy woman would have ordered such a luxurious juban.

The design features clouds and chrysanthemums. The juban beautifully depicts billowing clouds, known as 'Kumo-dori', a classic motif. Clouds were revered as dwellings of gods, influencing weather and bringing abundance. Chrysanthemums, with their radiant shape, were likened to the sun and considered the most noble of flowers. The maple leaves, known for changing colors beautifully with the seasons, symbolize a smooth path in life and happiness.

・If the kimono gets stained, please gently pat the affected area with a towel wrung out in hot water.

・Ironing it on a medium-high setting. Garments may also be steamed in a moderate setting.

・Cover the table runner with a cloth when ironing.
