Following the photo from my 3-year-old Shichi-Go-San(7-5-3) celebration, this is a photo from when I was 7 years old. You can probably tell that the obi is different from the one I wore at 3. This obi resembles those worn by adults. Although it’s actually smaller in length and width compared to an adult obi, it still gives off a mature and elegant look.
As you may able to see, both the kimono and obi are luxurious, fitting for a festive occasion. But... wearing a kimono can be quite uncomfortable for children. While it’s wonderful to wear something so extravagant, it takes time to put on, you have to stay still during the dressing kimono, it’s hard to move around, it’s difficult to eat without making a mess, and you really have to be careful not to get it dirty. So, despite how beautiful it looks, kids aren’t usually too thrilled about it! (Haha)
